Medigap Plans Get Facelift in 2010
A lot can change in 20 years.
News from Mutual of Omaha:  Mutual of OmahaUndoubtedly, the Medicare market has evolved since Medigap plans were standardized in 1990.  For example, health care treatments have increased in cost and usage, and the most populous generation in world history, the baby boomers, are fast approaching their Medicare-eligibility.

After the federal government's suggestion in 2003 to modernize the Medigap market, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) reviewed the plans and determined cosmetic updates were needed given all of the marketplace changes since 1990.

So, effective June 1, 2010, consumers on Medicare will choose from these 11 new Medigap plans:  A, B, C, D, E, F, high-deductible F, G, K, L, M, N.

As you can imagine, this is a tremendous undertaking for everyone.  Rest assured, Mutual of Omaha and Great Lakes/Brokers Health has the experience and know-how to make this transition as smooth as possible for you.

Quick Hands-On Stress Relief
Soother, Easer, Saver, Pleaser
Got a minute?  Get a massage - a self-massage, that is.  These moves can help relieve tension around your head, neck, shoulders and hands:
  • The scalp soother.  Place thumbs behind your ears and spread your fingers on top of your head.  Move your scalp back and forth slightly by making circles with your fingertips for 15-20 seconds.
  • The eye easer.  Close your eyes and place your ring fingers directly under your eyebrows, near the bridge of your nose.  Slowly increase pressure for five seconds, then gently release.  Repeat 2-3 times.
  • The shoulder saver.  Place your left hand on the right side of your neck by your shoulder.  Press fingers firmly into the muscle while tucking your chin in toward your chest.  Hold this position for 10 seconds, release, and then repeat on the left side.
  • The palm pleaser.  Lace your fingers together, leaving thumbs free.  Slowly knead your left thumb into the palm of your right hand for 20-30 seconds.  Then repeat on your left hand.
